Description
One of my favorite books ever is The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho.
My favorite book by him is actually The Pilgrimage, also know as
The diary of a Magus. But back to the alchemist...
When I first read the passage where the boy was told to become the wind,
The image I painted was one that still persists today, every time I re-read the book.
You can find the passage on page: 151 harper Collins edition
Following bellow, I would like to share some quotes from that passage
to better Illustrate the Inspiration for this new painting.
Thank you Paulo for writing such amazing books that have touched millions of hearts and imaginations including my own.
If Im not able to turn myself into the wind, we are going to die, the boy said. Why feed your falcon?
You are the one who may die, the alchemist said.
I already know how to turn myself into the wind.
I heard what you were talking about the other day with the alchemist, the wind said. He said that everything has its own destiny. But people cant turn themselves into the wind.
In my travels around the world, Ive often seen people speaking of love and looking toward the heavens, the wind said furious at having to acknowledge its own limitations.
Maybe its better to ask heaven.
Well then, help me do that, the boy said.
Fill this place with a sandstorm so strong that it blots out the sun.
Then I can look to heaven without blinding myself.

Wonderful work Ric! I haven't read the book, but from the excerpts in your description you've painted the story so well. Congratulations on your sale! L/F
